Farah evaluates the perinatal nutrition program
One of Farah’s key job responsibilities is to ensure ongoing long-term support for the perinatal nutrition program (1.12c). Farah engages in regular program review to help evaluate the program delivery and its outcomes, and keeps her team updated on its progress (4.04b, 2.06f). This includes surveying program participants, health professionals and community partners who are stakeholders in the program’s success (4.01d).
Farah has worked closely with epidemiologists in her public health unit (2.06f) to identify simple and relevant indicators that will best help demonstrate whether the perinatal nutrition program contributes to reducing Low Birth Weight (LBW) babies in their region (4.04b).
She also works with health professionals to obtain information to develop clear and helpful written resources that promote healthy eating during pregnancy and promote breastfeeding to new mothers (2.02f, 2.02g, 2.05e). In addition, Farah obtains feedback from her clients to determine their satisfaction with the program and its resources. Obtaining client feedback is one way in which Farah hopes to maintain a client-centered approach (1.07d).
Farah is also pleased that through the efforts of her community group and the support of her manager, her health unit is working towards achieving a Baby Friendly Initiative designation to support breastfeeding (1.12c).
