Sheena visits Mr. Hakim

After seeing Mrs. Wayne, Sheena visits Mr. Hakim who is in his third week of combined chemotherapy and radiation to the esophagus. Sheena has already met Mr. Hakim in her outpatient clinic and knows that he is now primarily only tolerating fluids (3.01d).

He has been admitted to the hospital because he requires an enteral feeding tube insertion to supplement his oral intake. The feeding tube was inserted today and Mr. Hakim will be going home tomorrow.

Sheena conducts a full assessment of Mr. Hakim and then meets with him to review how much enteral formula he will need based on his current oral intake (3.02n). She reviews an educational handout with him about how much daily fluid to aim for, as well as how many containers of enteral formula he currently needs to meet his nutritional needs (2.02f, 2.05g, 3.03f).

She tells Mr. Hakim that his nurse will be teaching him how to use his enteral tube before he is discharged (3.03e).

Before leaving, Sheena encourages Mr. Hakim to continue meeting with her weekly in the outpatient clinic (3.02x). Once again, Sheena goes to the nursing station to document her chart note (1.10g).
