Marissa describes her responsibilities

As the Manager of the Nutrition and Food Services department, Marissa’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the department is governed in accordance with provincial laws, guidelines and industry best practices (1.01f, 1.03d). It’s critical that university residents are satisfied with their meals in the cafeteria and that their nutritional requirements are being met according to Canada’s Food Guide (CFG) and the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) (5.03b).

Marissa also ensures the menu rotation in the cafeteria provides options for university residents who have therapeutic dietary requirements, such as diabetes, food allergies, etc (5.03b).

Marissa’s other important responsibilities include ensuring that food service employees are appropriately trained and qualified (5.03d, 5.02r), the department’s financial budget is met (5.01h), and continuous quality improvement (CQI) approaches are incorporated throughout the implementation of services, programs and projects (5.03k).
